The global economy is in crisis. The exponential exhaustion of natural resources, declining productivity, slow growth, rising unemployment, global health & ecological crises and steep inequality has forced us to rethink our current economic, labour and social models.
With the convergence of three pivotal technologies: an ultra-fast 5G communication internet, a renewable energy internet and a driverless mobility internet, all connected to the Internet of Things – a revolution is unfolding, and a profound ideological shift is taking place making this the most exciting of times for our generation.
Our generation is moving from ownership to access, markets to networks, consumerism to sustainability and market capital to social capital. The way we perceive freedom and power is very different as well.
For the older generation, freedom is autonomy and exclusivity. To be independent and self sufficient was to be free. For us, autonomy is death – we actively seek to unleash our potential and embed ourselves in network after network to share with the planet as we benefit from others who do the same. Freedom is inclusivity.
We have a different sensibility about power. Generations before us have always structured power in a pyramid, from one to the many. We believe that power is similar to a mesh with no vertical or lateral hierarchy, each node empowering the other in an open source exchange of ideas, intelligence and talents.
We are excited by this future challenge and want to play our part to help others transform and adapt to the fast evolving by providing insightful and effective communications and marketing.
At duke+mir, we are powered by the present – built for the future.
